Other projects
I occasionally work on longer projects, help moderate events or workshops, and present on climate journalism. I also sometimes speak to other journalists about climate reporting and newsrooms.
How To Fix Climate Journalism Essay Series
This is an essay series from the Oxford Climate Journalism Network from 2023, featuring journalists around the world. I guided and edited the series but of course the work here is done by the journalists themselves. With additional editing by Diego Arguedas Ortiz and Lauren Brown, and comms and social by the team including Eduardo Suárez and Marina Adami.
News Report 2023: Climate Journalism That Works
This report from the European Broadcasting Union, the world’s largest association of public broadcasters, it was one of the first reports of this scale looking at structural challenges and solutions around climate journalism at media organisations. It features 40+ interviews with news leaders and specialists in climate communication and psychology. The report was led by Alexandra Borchardt, Felix Simon and I assisted. Additional editing provided by the EBU team. March 2023.
Writing on journalism
I also occasionally write for the Reuters Institute and others about the forces shaping journalism, sometimes in collaboration with colleagues. All pieces below unless noted otherwise were edited by Eduardo Suárez.

Moderating, events, judging, etc
In addition to the OCJN, I occasionally assist Federica Cherubini and Priscille Biehlmann at the Reuters Institute’s leadership team with moderating events, both virtually and in person. I also ran the 2022 Reuters Institute Summer School, an in-person week of journalism sessions in Oxford, alongside Caithlin Mercer. (This was, as you can imagine, very fun.) I’ve also served as a judge for longform reporting for the Covering Climate Now awards.
Speaking, presenting, podcasts
I’ve spoken about climate reporting at conferences or events in Slovenia and at the EU. I have also occasionally spoken to journalism students or news organisations. If you’re interested, please get in touch. I sometimes do this for free but not always.
This includes podcasts! You can listen to me talk below, to get a sense of what I tend to say.
Communicating Climate Change podcast: Episode 35
Eurovision News podcast: Constructive Climate Journalism
My colleagues and I are also regularly interviewed by other journalists and researchers about climate journalism. For reasons of journalistic karma, I try to honour these requests wherever possible, or pass them on to the right person. For the same reason, young journalists are always welcome to contact me!
